Travelling to Alert Bay
Board the BC Ferry in Port McNeill for the 40 minute sailing to Alert Bay. Keep an eye out for Orca whales and eagles. The gukwdzi is about 1.8 km (1 mile) stroll or drive from the ferry terminal (turn left onto the main road from the ferry). Look for the tallest carved pole in the world at 53 m (173 feet) located beside the gukwdzi.
